MONICA Y MATEO
You have stumbled upon this site either by searching or by chance. Either way, I hope you enjoy your stay. This site is a true testimony of who I was and who I have become. I am a believer in Jesus Christ, however, was a practicing Buddhist for ten years. I know the paths and challenges of everyday life. I know the struggle of letting go of darkness and welcoming the light. I was called to Christ with a dream of being immersed in a baptism. I immediately knew I was ready to finally seek God and follow in Christianity. I am still in the process of becoming a member of my church and awaiting my baptism. If you are wondering — my dream happened in November of 2017. I am learning, reading, listening, and changing. I am giving my life to God and allowing Him to use me based on my own talents and gifts. I love to write and have a sincere passion for counseling others. Those are my gifts and I know He will use them in order to help others. This is not a site of judgement, but a site of understanding. I hope you continue this journey with me. I did write a memoir, The Cancer Warrior, prior to being saved. I believe it to be part one of my story – I hope you read it and know that I was truly lost, but have been found.
THE CANCER WARRIOR IS OFFICIALLY
Have you ever felt your world shatter from one day to the next?
For Monica, that moment would happen when she’d least expect it. She was twenty-three living on coffee and cigarettes when she woke up with a lump protruding from her neck.
Four years after her haunting battle with cancer, she travels to an Ashram. While trying to master yoga poses—Monica struggles to heal from her dark and tormenting past.
At the Ashram, a nightmare of a red-filled syringe piercing her hand sends her into panic. She realizes she must unravel layers of hidden pain and face her darkest truth—cancer. In her quest for healing, she discovers that survival has nothing to do with going into remission.
THE CANCER WARRIOR is a courageous, yet gut-wrenching memoir of a rebellious cancer survivor’s journey from victim to warrior.
